Environmental advocate Tyler McFarland, who is 23, held a sign up that read “Walker 4 President” and requested a photo with the governor of Wisconsin.
Just as the photo was to be taken, McFarland flipped the sign over and on the other side was a large fake check from mega donors to the Republicans the Koch brothers that had Scott Walker as the payee on a check of $900,000,000.
Walker seemed not to see the gag and continued on with photo taking. After the photos were completed, McFarland presented the governor with the check, who brushed aside the incident and continued his talk with voters.
McFarland said following the incident that he wanted to highlight that Governor Walker is ready to possibly receive as much as $900 million from Charles and David Koch, which is the amount they have pledged to spend for this 2016 presidential election.
McFarland, an advocate for climate control and the leader for the organization 350 Action, said he had wanted to draw the contrast between the clean energy plan of President Barack Obama that was presented on Monday and the views of Walker.
Walker has commented that Obama’s plan would cost American jobs, would raise their electricity rates and hurt the overall economy.
McFarland said he was not confrontational as he only said one sentence to the governor very calmly which he in large part ignored. The success of his actions, he said comes from all the people who saw and will see the photo and are concerned about money in today’s politics and climate change.
Although McFarland believes that Walker is the candidate who is most dangerous when it comes to climate control, he said he is planning to do other similar things to the other candidates.
McFarland said that Bernie Sanders the Senator from Vermont and Martin O’Malley the Governor of Maryland had the best plans he has seen thus far for climate change. He said Hillary Clinton’s plan that was announced in July did not go far enough for him.
