DISCLOSE Act: We’re making a difference

Earlier this week, we joined over fifty other organizations in opposition to the DISCLOSE Act. In a letter sent to Speaker Pelosi, we expressed our concern over the exemptions that were added after pressure from select special interest groups. These exemptions would create a two-tiered system of campaign finance laws and First Amendment protections, one for the most powerful and influential and another for everyone else.
The House was originally scheduled to vote on the bill on Friday, but conversations are underway to develop a balanced compromise that doesn't put smaller organizations at such a disadvantage. We hope that after further discussion, a fairer and more powerful version of the DISCLOSE Act will emerge.
